has it been that long?
ack, it's valentine's day again. the day that i er.. not exactly 'dread' the most, just that, i don't really fancy the idea of having a 'specific' day to celebrate love. L-O-V-E should be celebrated EVERYDAY! and besides, did you know that st. valentine was beheaded for trying to convert the emperor?
so.. yeah.

Hello
long time no post. i am still alive, by the way. :P seriously, i have been so busy lately that i only get a few hours of sleep.. and my panda eyes are getting more obvious everyday. thank goodness i studied professional makeup while i was back in KL that i am able to hide those flaws whenever i go out (but that too, will depend on how rajin i am. most of the time, it's just the moisturizer and face powder) ha ha
so er. i think that's all i can post today. i just got back from lunch + high tea with Bunny's nephew (consider my nephew also lah that, kan??) not too long ago and i am so damn full. i think i could afford a quick nap now before i work on my small projects.
in the meantime, ya'll be nice ya hear me?

Washi Obsession
Nobody probably know this (chewah, mcm la aku ni famous sangat that people would know anything about me :P) ... but I am a washi tape obsessed girl. Yes, I love washi tapes. I don't mind spending all my hard-earned money on those tapes...just to satisfy my washi needs. :(
For those of you who's not familiar with the word 'washi tape' - well, they are masking tapes made out of rice paper, originated from Japan. They serve like masking tapes juga, but they are so much prettier and comes in many colors! You can just peel them off, stick them, write on them, tear them.. whatever you feel like doing with them lah. He he he
So back to my obsession. Here's part of my washi tape collection:
Uhm, like I said.. that's just part of my collection. I still have like 2 boxes of washi tapes yang I still haven't found a place to store/display them. I am in dire need of a washi tape storage lah... but where can I find one? Kaison's not helping much. The wooden boxes are just too small to fit ALL my tapes. :/

a painful farewell
this is a picture of my dog, Hachiko and Mulan.
i know. Hachiko and Mulan are plural, so it should be my dogs instead of my dog. that's because ONLY Hachiko is my dog. Mulan is the dog we rescued about a month ago. some heartless prick dumped her at the roadside in front of my apartment along with another sibling of hers that we named "Badut". after 2 weeks of feeding her and Badut, one morning, we find that Badut has gone missing. someone has probably decided to adopt her - which was great! and not wanting to leave Mulan alone at the balai raya where they used to live, we decided to take her home 2 weeks ago to foster til someone adopts her.
the day i dreaded the most finally arrived today.
Mulan found a new home at my cousin's place in Inobong. me? i was left to cry and sob like a mother who lost her baby...
we never intended to keep Mulan as our pet, for we are living in an apartment where pets are not allowed. having Chiko alone is already against the rule!
the thing is, i've already grown attached to Mulan. she'd come and sit by my side all the time. she'd sleep beside my bed every night, under the cooling air of the air-cond. gawd, just typing this makes me sad and want to scream again!
I HATE HAVING A KIND HEART TO ANIMALS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO DOGS!
I HATE BEING SAD WHEN A DOG LEAVES/DIED!
I DON'T WANT TO TO FEEL LIKE THIS AGAIN!

how to give that bump look on your hair
a few weeks ago, i typed "how to bump your hair" on youtube.. and a few videos popped up. i picked one with a beautiful girl with shoulder-length hair, about the length of mine. halfway through the video, i got bored and was about to click on another video when she mentioned "armpits".
like, what? armpits?
i replayed the part where she said "armpits".. and it turned out to be "bumpits"!
the girl on the video used a bumpits to give that bump look on her hair - and it was SO EASY! like eating ais kacang! actually, eating ais kacang lagi susah. you would have to chew those kacangs. sometimes they got stuck in between your teeth and you got so annoyed, you wanna just korek your gigi right in front of everyone so you can continue eating the ais kacang.
anyway, to make story short... i went ahead and bought the bumpits online. and because i'm nice, i'm gonna show some pictures for those of you who has never heard of bumpits. ;D
and the main items inside........
small little pieces that you can use on your hair to give it a little groove, especially if you're into classic looks. macam that movie, 'breakfast at tiffanys'. heeeee
now you must be wondering how it looks like on the head, right? yes? no? oh whatever. i'm showing nevertheless!
what do you think? nice kan the bump? you no longer need to tease your hair and use cans of hair spray to achieve that bump look. just use a bumpits and your bad hair day problem's solved! you're welcome.
you can get the bumpits online. i think you can get them from the lowyatt forum as well - they're pretty cheap, tho i'm not sure about the authenticity of the product. but hey, yang penting can bump! another way is to get them off their website or ebay.

the story of a girl and her pink obsession
once upon a time, there lives a girl who has an obsession of the color pink. she practically lives in a pink space with pink items all around her. she painted her office wall pink.. even painted her work table pink. she also has a vast collection of pink colored pens, pink candles, pink toothbrush, pink clock, pink..pink..pink! one could go dizzy just staring at her collection of pink items.
then one fine day, as the girl was surfing the internet to find more pink inspiration, she chanced upon a beautiful picture of a pink canon calculator. she was instantly in love! determined to have one for herself, she called the company that advertised the pink calculator; but to her disappointment, it was out of stock. not wanting to give up, she called another company that sells stationery items online - another disappointment.days go by. calls after another, emails and more emails was sent out: all came back with hurtful news.
as a girl who wouldn't stop at nothing (for pink), she called her brother as a last resort.
"you HAVE to help me!"
"what's wrong?"
"go walk around low yatt and hunt for a pink calculator for me. canon brand."
and thus, the journey began. her brother would hunt around klang valley for a pink canon calculator. he found a pink one, but it was a giant supermarket brand. and it wasn't that pretty. he sent the girl a text along with a photo of the calculator... of course, it wasn't a canon, so the girl despised it.
back home, the girl scavenges all around town. from one stationery store to another, hunting for that beloved pink canon calculator. to her dismay, NONE of the stationery stores in kk sells them.
days turned into weeks. weeks turned into months.. still no signs of a pink canon calculator. not even ebay has it.
and just as the girl was about to give up, a whatsapp picture message came through her phone:
there sits a beautiful, sexy pink canon calculator in the hand of her brother.
IT'S A PINK CANON CALCULATOR!
"you'll have it when i get home this christmas" was the message that came along with it. a short, simple message that brings happiness and total sadness at the same time, for christmas is such a long wait. a 2 weeks worth of wait!

her brother made her the happiest girl on earth!

so she bought another TWO.
in total, she actually has FOUR pink canon calculators..... but her mother made her give away one to her favorite baker (who happens to be her friend) because her mother said, (i quote) "you have too many calculators! and beside, sharing is caring. christmas is about giving and sharing.."
so she shared her joy of pink canon calculator with the baker and the girl lived happily ever after with her 3 pink canon calculators. but there's no saying that she'll stop at 3. she might buy another one..because, (in her words) "kurang asam betul! time kita cari berabis, semua kedai tiada jual. sudah kita beli jauh-jauh di kl... tetiba banyak pulak di kk!"

The evolution of a woman (in illustration)
These are vector art I did for a customer of mine:
She evolved from having a nicely-blown hair to a messy-haired woman to a woman that wipes a table like an amah or a worker at a coffee shop. Except that she's so much prettier than most of the "P" women you'll see at our local coffee shop here in KK. lol
What I'm trying to say is: working in the designing field is no walk in the park. Things might be pretty in my eyes, but to the customer, it might be the other way around. Like they say, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Sometimes I get customer who instantly agrees with my design, sometimes I don't.
Which is fine with me. :) Really. As long as people don't send me rude emails with broken English: that could really trigger the anger in the normally-happy me. Ha ha ha.
By the way, the image above is not the final image for the customer. I just got an email requesting for some minor changes in the illustration.
I will have to do it tomorrow, because right now, I need my beauty sleep. It's 1:50 a.m sudah! Matai!

As I grow older..
This morning, I woke up feeling happy and excited. Took a quick shower and whispered on my dog's ear to go wish his daddy a Happy Birthday. But a dog will remain a dog. So I went to Bunny's office, gave him a hug, saying "Happy Birthday!".
Then thunder stiked:
"Bila birthday aku?"
Surprised, I answered,
"Hari ni kan? 30th? You said almost the same day with Michael Jackson mah??"
"Michael Jackson 29th. Mine's 28th!"
I almost died.

It's a beautiful day!
My stress level is not a happy camper lately. We're to move out soon and we still have no idea where we'll go. The landlord has not given us a notice to move out just yet, but we are not gonna wait till someone decided to buy this apartment - we'll just move. I've never really liked this place, anyway. We only have 1 bathroom! Read that? ONE! I can't even have a small room that I can turn into my very own pink office too coz there's only 2 rooms. :(
Anyway, let's talk about something else or my stress level might spike up again. :P Let's talk about how lovely the morning is today. Right??? It rained for almost the whole night last night, even my dog decided to join me on bed. He's probably feeling cold from the aircond and fan that I turned on. Plus the rain.
So what shall we do on this beautiful morning?
Have a toast of course!
Here's some toasting guide - for you and me. But obviously for ME - because I haven't had a drink for like ages! Man, I feel so old..........

How I draw my illustrations
I'm feeling so down right now. Really, really down.. like I'm scrapping the floor. :( But I'm a firm believer in karma. Hari ini hari dia... Someday, karma will come biting back.

Tonight, I'm going to talk about how I did all the illustrations that I posted in my blogs since I have often received emails, asking me how I did all the images I made on all the blogs of my customers. Hmmm.. I'm gonna explain it in the simplest way I can. :D
Let's start!
First, I'll sketch a rough image on either Illustrator or Photoshop. (but lately, I am using Illustrator more often - because I really like it!)
My gut tells me that you know what the sketch is about. Next, the fun part begins! I'll add colors into the sketch. Just like how'd you'd color a children's coloring book. :D
I'd normally start on the face.. because I like pretty things. So a woman, even in sketches.. have to have their pretty face first. :P
Now I'll continue coloring all over the sketch. Give her some cloth.. kasian juga dia telanjang nanti. Ha ha
Almost perfect now! Just need to add a little bit more colors here and there.
My Victorian woman is finally complete! Siap ada bunga lagi kan?
So that's basically how I did my illustrations. Looks really easy, I know. Try drawing with a mouse like how I did. Heeeeee. Tunggu cukup duit baru beli high-tech punya tablet for drawing. But honestly? I used a Wacom tablet to draw many years ago but I find it easier to draw with a mouse. Maybe I'm just used to it.

Tonight, I'm going to talk about how I did all the illustrations that I posted in my blogs since I have often received emails, asking me how I did all the images I made on all the blogs of my customers. Hmmm.. I'm gonna explain it in the simplest way I can. :D
Let's start!
First, I'll sketch a rough image on either Illustrator or Photoshop. (but lately, I am using Illustrator more often - because I really like it!)
My gut tells me that you know what the sketch is about. Next, the fun part begins! I'll add colors into the sketch. Just like how'd you'd color a children's coloring book. :D
Now I'll continue coloring all over the sketch. Give her some cloth.. kasian juga dia telanjang nanti. Ha ha
Almost perfect now! Just need to add a little bit more colors here and there.
My Victorian woman is finally complete! Siap ada bunga lagi kan?
So that's basically how I did my illustrations. Looks really easy, I know. Try drawing with a mouse like how I did. Heeeeee. Tunggu cukup duit baru beli high-tech punya tablet for drawing. But honestly? I used a Wacom tablet to draw many years ago but I find it easier to draw with a mouse. Maybe I'm just used to it.
Ohh by the way, if you'd like to have the Victorian woman image above, you can get her from my Etsy Store. Murah-murah saja bah. :D

New cliparts in my Etsy shop
Added 2 new cliparts to my Etsy Shop - an illustration of a Victorian woman that I named "Gladys" in 2 versions: blue and pink.
You can expect to see more of Victorian women in my upcoming cliparts soon - I have a few images on mind already, I just need to find the time to draw it all.. :-)

Pink homecoming dresses I like!
Many, many, many, maaaaany years ago (tho not that too many.. coz I am still very young :P) I was in love with this man whom I've always dreamed of going to the homecoming dance with. He was tall and handsome (sorry, Bunny if you're reading this. but you are ALWAYS the king in my heart! hee) and would make the perfect prom king with me, being the prom queen. But truth be told, we do not have homecoming dance party here in Malaysia. At least there's none in my high school. Sigh.
But for you lucky people in the States and Canada (and every country that has homecoming dance party)... YOU ARE ONE LUCKY BOY/GIRL! I wish we have it too back then.. then I could make use of my makeup skill and sense of fashion for good! Hee
And for you girls out there who's still struggling in getting that perfect homecoming dresses, here's goody two shoes Jane offering her good deed. :P I have specifically choose the color pink - because pink is my favorite. If you're a fan of pink too, then you're in for some eye-candy!
These are my favorite pink dresses, via DressFirst. Pretty kan?? Gives you the feeling that even if you aren't chosen as the homecoming queen of the night, you ARE already a queen with these dresses!
But if you're not a fan of pink, there are a variety and range of other colors you can choose from. And what's best is that they're currently having a sale of up to 60% discount for their dresses!! A steal, I'd say!
OK lah, I better stop typing and get the frozen fishes out of the fridge - in case Bunny doesn't wanna take me out for lunch coz I mentioned my ex in this post. :P

Go Green: Recycle Your Mason Jar
Remember those empty bottles of mayonnaise or pickled olives that you throw away.. because you find them taking up spaces in your kitchen?
Well.. they're actually pretty useful to store up things. AND, you can style them up too if you find them to be too boring. One of the many ways that you can do is to paint them with your favorite colors. Like how I did:
